Best climbing gym in Bangkok (according to the Internet)
Bangkok's vibrant urban landscape offers a dynamic and diverse climbing scene that caters to enthusiasts of all levels. Whether you're a seasoned climber seeking new challenges or a beginner eager to explore the sport, the city boasts a variety of indoor climbing gyms equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and welcoming communities.
One standout destination is Balance Climbing, the city's newest air-conditioned climbing gym. Located in the heart of Bangkok, Balance Climbing provides over 100 climbing routes, meticulously reset twice a week by a German head setter and team. The gym offers free weekly bouldering workshops, group classes, and private sessions tailored to individual skill levels. For families, there's a dedicated Kid Top-Rope Climbing Zone for children aged 6-13, with free introductory sessions for first-timers. The facility spans 1,000 square meters and includes amenities such as free Wi-Fi, changing rooms, and indoor parking, making it an ideal spot for both solo climbers and groups. Big commercial gym with AC, cafe, nice changing rooms and other facilities. Everything you need for a good climbing sesh. When we were there, basically the whole left side-wall was used for a few competition climbs, which took up huge amounts of wall space. Which in turn, doesn't leave that much space for other climbs. In our minds, that's a lot of wasted space. But maybe they just had a comp the previous weekend 🤔. If not, maybe putting up other climbs on the left side-wall would be a good idea. Because the angles on those walls ended up being underutilized and it's a shame seeing those walls with only a few climbs on them. Good routesetting though for the boulders that were there available and a good variety of holds. Decent training area. I would totally go here again if I visit Bangkok again.

This gym is depressing. It has so much potential, but whoever makes decisions here is clueless. I’ve been coming here for around 1.5 years now, and now I’ll be moving to a different gym. There are better gyms in bkk. Used to be able to pause memberships mid month, w/o being charged for the remainder of the month. A highly valuable feature for me considering I leave for a month or 2 at a time. Suddenly this is gone when I try to pause on May 4th. A feature I counted on and only used when really needed to. Now I have to pay for a month I won’t be around for. In addition to the random policy change, the setting has become awful. When I first arrived the routes had good variety and consistent grading. Now occasionally they do well and have fun routes, but it’s rare to not get bored here even though the gym is big. The walls are awesome and offer a lot of potential, but the walls are underutilized which emphasizes the poor routes. Congratulations Mr or Ms business owner. You have captured ~90% of my monthly fee with your policy change and now lose my monthly fee to another gym when I come back from my trip. Brilliant business strategy. Btw when I talked to the first person, they lied saying this is how it has always been, which made me think more about this knowing I’ve done it before. The 2nd person shared the truth that the change went into effect beginning of the year, unfortunately I wasn’t aware otherwise I would have paused at the end of April. For those reading, get a day pass here, don’t get a membership.

Nice gym with a decent variety of climbs (even marked according to style), some dynamic, some more technical. Lead wall, bouldering as well as some auto belay (which unfortunately only had routes up to about 6c). Decent amount of boulders up to around V8. Friendly staff. Temperature can sometimes be hard to endure without ac.

The walls here are very diverse, many different routes starting from beginner friendly to advanced climbers. Air conditions are great and the walk is around 7 minutes from the MRT.

I love it!! It’s such a great climbing gym. It’s not over crowded like StoneGoat. You don’t need to queue to attempt a problem. They are resetting the routes on a regular basis. The atmosphere is very friendly. The staff is super helpful. People chat with each others. There is showers. My go to.

Excellent gym, interesting routes, updated frequently. Only Bouldering. There is a shower. Inexpensive subscription, which includes rental of boots and chalk. The only downside is the inconvenient subscription system, you need to pay for 2 months at once, or make an automatic subscription, which must be cancelled in advance.

Such a fun gym with creative routes and a very beginner-friendly vibe. Most of the time, the staff are super helpful. This time, though, a couple of the front desk folks seemed a bit less cheerful than usual (maybe just an off day? 🤣). Still, the staff who gave climbing tips were absolute gems as always! (Sorry I'd like to give 4.5 stars but there's no option)

Please just shut down. Carpark won't let us get in lift. From lift can't get into carpark. Shittest building ever. Gym said I can take 6yo but website says 9yo and when I arrived they told me minimum age is 14. Please wake up! Totally wasted my time and daughter is so disappointed. Shame on you!

Amazing staff, good prices, quiet during the day, flexible hours with their self-service option. As a traveller, I was pleased to also see good rental shoes. The staff there also gave me some good tips as a newer climber aiming to improve. If you are looking for a place to train, I highly recommend this spot. However, if you are looking for set boulder problems, that’s not what this gym offers best. The main purpose for going to this gym is to use their tension board, moon board, or kilter board.

No capybara but the gym is amazing 🤩
Anna
This gym is a bit small and super expensive, I paid 1000 bath. If you book online is 800, the first time 500. They gave you water, and also a towel for shower is included. The gym closes at 20, not at 18. It's possible to recline the walls as you prefer and there is an app that allowed you to light up the path you wanna follow.

Magnus the capybara was cute! Loved the rings, tension/moon/kilter board.

Nice and challenging climbing gym that isn't too big but offers ample diverse projects to climb. I learned a few fundamental moves from the coach too! Will be back to challenge again once I'm stronger !

Friendly staff and clean facility, but the actual rock climbing area is extremely small. The setting is rather boring. Not worth the 400 baht entrance fee. The non-climbing gym area is super nice though, but that's not what I came here for.

Did a full day trip to Crazy Horse Buttress. SUCH a cool experience. Love sport climbing - boulder and lead but not as versed outdoors. The folks here were super professional, made it feel as comfortable and (most important of all) safe as it can be. Their gear is all Black Diamond, top notch stuff and in great condition. My 2x guides were fantastically kind. OFC - it's climbing in nature in Thailand, so there's lots of mosquitos, it's very hot and humid and it's 45min drive away. Please dress and prepare accordingly. 10/10 experience - the crag, walls, cave are all so impressive and have so many climbs. Highly recommend and so worth the money. Thank you so much, CMRCA!
